Project

Upscaling FETP in India

The problem

Scaling up Field Epidemiology Training Programmes (FETP) strengthens a country's capacity to detect and respond to disease, but scale-up must be planned within a budget and justified with a clear business case.

Research questions

How should FETP scale-up in India be prioritised and planned so that cost, stakeholder endorsement, and expected health benefit are balanced?

Role, team, and partner

Commissioned by the World Bank Group. Dr Mesfin Genie contributed to the business case and led the supporting decision aid, working with M. Wu, J. Henriquez, A. Gebremariam, A. Melia, and collaborators.

Methods and data

A discrete choice experiment with stakeholders, combined with cost templates and epidemiological multipliers, underpins a transparent planning model.
