Health economics, behavioural economics and decision evidence

Dr Mesfin Genie is a Continuing Senior Lecturer in Health Economics at Newcastle Business School, The University of Newcastle, Australia.

Biography

Dr Mesfin Genie studies how patients and the public value healthcare, process information and respond to policy. His work combines health economics, behavioural economics, stated-preference methods, discrete choice experiments, eye tracking, health measurement and decision-support tools.

He received his PhD in Economics from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where he used stated-preference methods to study healthcare decision-making. He has held research and teaching positions at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, the Health Economics Research Unit at the University of Aberdeen, the Harrison School of Pharmacy at Auburn University, and the School of Medicine at Duke University.
