SOIL CRC Benefit-Cost Analysis Tool

Benefit-cost analysis for farm-practice and soil-management trials.

The problem

Deciding whether an agricultural trial or soil-management intervention is worth its cost requires transparent economic appraisal under uncertainty.

Intended users

Researchers and partners evaluating agricultural production trials.

Inputs and outputs

Users supply trial assumptions and costs; the tool returns net present value, benefit-cost ratio, return on investment, and sensitivity analysis under alternative scenarios.

Methodological basis

Standard benefit-cost analysis with user-supplied assumptions and explicit sensitivity ranges.

Credits

Project lead and publisher: Dr Frank Wogbe Agbola. Developed with Dr Mesfin Genie.

Limitations

Results depend on the assumptions entered and are intended to support appraisal and discussion.
