Assessing whether a farm trial or soil-management intervention is worth its cost means committing to a discount rate, a time horizon and an adoption path. Reported as a single ratio, those commitments disappear from view, and much of the ratio comes from them rather than from the intervention.
This tool exposes them. Set the assumptions and sensitivity ranges yourself, and it returns net present value, benefit-cost ratio, return on investment and a sensitivity analysis. The useful output is often not the central estimate but the range of assumptions under which the conclusion flips.
